Vancouver Island real estate and setting up your garden
Take a look at your Vancouver Island real estate property and figure out how you can make your garden look like a showplace. The first thing that you need to do is to sketch out what you want to do with your garden. Do you want to have a pond as the focal point? A bench or a garden arch? How do you envision your garden?
Take a look at some of the pictures that depict gardens that you like to get ideas. Then take a look at the space that you have available to you with your own garden. How much space do you have? You do not want to throw a bunch of junk out on the lawn to make it look as if you know what you are doing. You need to take your time and figure out what you will like. Your garden should be an extension of your home. It is your home, in a way, outside.
One of my neighbors, Sheila, needed help with her garden. I said that I would help her out with some of the heavy work. Sheila had an idea of how she wanted her garden to look, but didn’t want to buy stuff that just looked as if everything was thrown together. There are other houses in the area like that and this is not what she wanted at all. She looked at some gardening magazines and found what she wanted. Her centerpiece in her garden was a bench. She always envisioned herself reading by this bench. I helped her install the bench and then we made a little footpath out of stones to the bench. From there, she began to plant different flowers and plants, including fillers, perennials and annuals so that the garden grew. Every once in a while she added something to the garden to make it look even nicer. Two years later, her garden looks beautiful. She has roses, a garden arch, vines, ground covering and some beautiful annuals in pots. The garden looks like something out of a magazine and it has only been two years. It will look even nicer when it continues to grow.
